یقین تھا میں گماں سے پہلے

کہ جیسے ہو گل خزاں سے پہلے

I was absolute before speculation

Just like flower before autumn 

 میں فکرِ جاناں رہا ہوں ایسے
ہوں لفظ جیسے بیاں سے پہلے

I remained captivated in the memory of my beloved 

As words before utterance

جواب ہے تو سوال ہے پھر

مکین جیسے مکاں سے پہلے

Answer always comes before question

As house comes into existence before resident

جہاں بنا ہے مرے لیے تو

کہاں تھا میں اس جہاں سے پہلے

If this universe is created for me

Then Where I was before this universe

وجودِ حاضر سے پہلے بھی تُو

شعور میں تھا گیاں سے پہلے

Before this current presence (concrete shape) You were

In consciousness, (before) in imagination

کوئی تو ہو گا نعیم اپنا

نشاں کہیں تو نشاں سے پہلے

There would be any sign Neam

Before this existence (sign), a sign anywhere
